The 13th Lustrum is built around the theme Fortune a concept that embraces luck, fulfillment and the courage to challenge expectations. The number 13 is often associated with bad luck worldwide, but instead of seeing this as a limitation, we chose to turn it into a strength. With Fortune, we celebrate the 65th anniversary of Study Association “De Veetelers” by sending a clear message: we create our own luck.
Fortune represents confidence, optimism and the ability to rise above superstition. Rather than letting symbolic misfortune influence our plans, we use it as motivation to make this Lustrum truly exceptional. This mindset is reflected not only in the theme itself, but also in our committee name “Unbelievable” and slogan “Defying the odds” expressing our belief that something extraordinary can be achieved, regardless of expectations.
The meaning of Fortune is also visually embedded in our logo, which brings together multiple symbols of good luck and positive energy. At its heart is the crane, a symbol of happiness, health and longevity. In Japanese culture, folding a thousand origami cranes is believed to grant wishes or bring healing, making it a powerful representation of hope and perseverance.
Alongside the crane, butterflies appear as symbols of new beginnings, transformation and hope. Swallows represent good fortune through their association with loyalty, safe journeys and protection of the home.
With Fortune, we not only reflect on the rich history of our association, but also look forward. We recognize how fortunate we are to be part of such a large and active Study Association and choose to celebrate this moment to the fullest. The Lustrum is an opportunity to create lasting memories, enjoy the present together, and one day look back on this period with pride.
In essence, Fortune is about creating your own luck, embracing opportunity, and proving that together we can make the 13th Lustrum truly unforgettable.
